Life Cell delivered to the Dorset and East Devon FLAG
Pinpoint are very happy to have delivered Life Cells, Smartfind G8 EPIRBs and Fastfind PLBs to the Dorset and East Devon FLAG who are an initiative of the Marine Management Organisation and part of the European Maritime Fisheries Fund.
The Life Cell has been developed following a real incident where Life Cell Directors, Scott Smiles & Rick Matthews and their 11 year old sons, survived a real life accident at sea, inspiring them to create a device that redefines how safety equipment is stored and used on boats to improve survival rates. Safety equipment is often stored under seats, in lockers or under bunks making it difficult to locate in a time of emergency. Life Cell however combines all of this essential safety equipment in a flotation device which significantly reduces the chance of these safety items being lost or unable to be found in time to abandon the vessel.
The Life Cell paired with the latest Mcmurdo G8 AIS EPIRB or Fast Find PLB will give the fisherman the reassurance that should an accident occur they have the best means to aid their recovery.
The safety equipment has been heavily funded by the local government for the fishermen of the Dorset FLAG.
Steve Postles from the Dorset and East Devon FLAG said ‘we are really pleased to receive this safety equipment. Our vessels from the smallest fishing boat will be better equip to deal with an emergency. We are very happy to promote this as it will help towards a safer industry for us all’.
